"I'd rather live for Germany than die for England," says Eddie Chapman. But the actions of the clever British safecracker don't match his words. The year after The Sound of Music and over four decades before his Oscar -winning Best Supporting Actor performance in 2010's Beginners, versatile Christopher Plummer portrays suave Chapman in this spy thriller whose superb cast includes Yul Brynner as Chapman's German espionage mentor and Trevor Howard as a British spy chief. Terence Young (Dr. No, Thunderball) directs, giving a caper-like feel to this fact-based film that also costars Thunderball's Claudine Auger and Goldfinger's Gert Frobe.
