The Dungeon of Harrow (aka Dungeons of Horror)

During the 1870s, two survivors of a capsized boat make their way to a remote island, desolate save for a decaying castle belonging to a demented count and leprous wife, who is also mad. The couple are imprisoned and tortured, but all are eventually doomed by the wife's dread disease. (The American Film Institute Catalog) Taken at face value, this film may be one of the worst movies ever made. It has almost no redeeming features, in the ordinary sense. The acting, photography, music, story, and directing, are absolutely rock bottom. It is, in fact, so bad, that it can be enjoyed as truly classic "camp." A memorable exchange: Castaway hero: "'Tis most tragic. This explains why the Count [of Castle De Sade] is a little deranged." Count's female assistant: "It's worse than that-- He's insane!" However, the director Pat Boyette was one of American's leading comic book artists, and it may be that he was in substance creating a comic film, in which case it could be considered as a work of art, not a bad movie.
