Horror Hotel (City of the Dead)

Maybe the quintessential movie depiction of the flower child era: Set in 1967 in Venice. Calif., the film follows the waif of the title as she drifts from bad to worse. She gets arrested. joins a commune, takes up with a man she meets on a park bench. works as a topless model. and contracts gonorrhea. Only at the film's closing. when an acquaintance of Hilary's takes LSD and then confuses her baby with the Thanksgiving turkey, does the film display any definite attitude toward such goings-on. In this last instance, at least. it disapproves. Hillary is played by Groucho's daughter Melinda Marx.
