Thirty-one-year-old Laurie has three beautiful children but they are not allowed to live with her. She has a master's degree in psychology but she's lost her job as a death row psychologist. Laurie is a pill addict. She started abusing Xanex after her marriage failed and then after a near-fatal car accident, Laurie became addicted to morphine. Now Laurie can barely take care of herself much less her children. Her oldest daughter Katy is not only fed up with her mother's behavior, but terrified that Laurie won't survive the year. Will Katy and the rest of the family be able to convince Laurie to go to treatment? Twenty-one-year-old Jessie is an attractive, intelligent, young woman with a dream of becoming a pediatrician. But Jessie's life is stuck in a dangerous rut. Jessie is bulimic. She spends her days eating mass quantities of food and then throwing it up. Her disease has consumed her life, forcing her to drop out of school. She was kicked out of her sorority for eating all the food and two months ago her parents asked her to leave their house for the same reason. Now Jessie's family believes that only an intervention can save her, but what they don't know is that Jessie is keeping an enormous secret from them.
